Dandruff is the most common scalp condition all over the globe, almost half the population of the world suffers from it. In this condition, your scalp gets covered with white flakes and sometimes, there can be itching associated with it.

To treat dandruff, we must know why it occurs on our scalp? But unfortunately there is no fullproof evident study that can point to one single cause factor.

Many theories are been published about the pathophysiology of dandruff, among which the most common type is microbial etiology. In this study, researchers found out that a yest like fungus called malassezia is responsible for our dandruff problem. Many antifungal treatments were then intialized to cure this dandruff condition but In response to the use of antifungal preparations, population of Malassezia reduces, but the bacterial population is seldom affected. After withdrawal of treatment, the clinical situation recurs and Malassezia population increases to the initial level. Non microbial factors like excessive sunlight, over-shampooing, and cosmetic products can contribute to dandruff, though there is limited experimental evidence.

In other studies, Dandruff can be considered a mild form of seborrhoeic dermatitis with minimal inflammation, while seborrhoeic dermatitis involves more extensive inflammation and scaling.

Some studies questioned the role of lipids in dandruff production. Sebum (skin oil) might support dandruff formation, but it is not the primary cause. Host factors and skin lipids may influence dandruff development.

If we don't know the exact cause of the dandruff, then how to get rid of it?

Homoeopathy comes to your rescue here, as we have individualised treatment plan curtailed to the person itself. Using precise case taking process, we try to diagnose the specific cause in your case and then we prescribe medication for it.
